Bennett Harvey Rolla

Bennett Rolla, of Granite Falls, died Friday, December 4, 2020 at the Avera Granite Falls Care Center at the age of 87, 27 days short of 88.

Private graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 9, 2020 in Rock Valle Lutheran Cemetery.  Military Honors and graveside services will be filmed, and available on Bennett’s obituary page Thursday, December 10.  Floral arrangements may be sent to Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home of Granite Falls by 10:00 AM, Wednesday, December 9.

Bennett Harvey Rolla was born December 31, 1932 in Sioux Agency Township, MN to Obert and Anna (Rod) Rolla.  He was baptized and confirmed at Rock Valle Lutheran Church.  Bennett attended District 8 Country School, and later obtained his GED from Granite Falls High School before he went on to continue a life of farming after his military service in the Korean War.  Bennett enlisted in the United States Army and served in the Korean War from 1950 – 1953.  He was united in marriage to Betty Fladeboe on June 5, 1965 at Vinje Lutheran Church in Willmar, MN.  To this union they adopted three children from Lutheran Social Services: Jonathan, Jason and Racquel.  Bennett farmed for over 25 years and went on to work maintenance at the Upper Sioux Agency State Park for 20 years.  He served eight years as county commissioner, over ten years on the Granite Falls American Legion Honor Guard, and was a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion.  Bennett enjoyed going deer hunting, spending time with his grandchildren, and spending time on Lake Osakis and George Lake near Spicer, MN.

Bennett is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty; children, Jonathan Rolla, of Burnsville, MN, Jason (Tiffany) Rolla, of Johnson City, TN, and Racquel Rolla (Michael Beauchamp), of Granite Falls, MN; grandchildren, Hailey (Andre) Eder, Michael Rolla, Faith (Corey) Degen, Angelia (Hunter) Morris, Hannah (Anthony) Smith, Evan Rolla, Josephine Rolla, Abigail Rolla, and Bennett and Wyatt Ansell; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Diane (Paul) Hinz, Granite Falls, MN, Lorraine (Bob) Sloan, of Kentucky, and Coretta (Glen) Nielson, of Florida; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Paul) Ellingboe; brother-in-law, Dale (Grace) Fladeboe; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Orris (Arlene) Rolla; sisters, Arlene (Lloyd) Sandstrom, Rose Vien and Evelyn Rolla.
