Bernice Jerve, of Montevideo, died on Thursday, April 16, 2009 at the Clara City Care Center in Clara City, MN at the age of 94 . Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, April 20, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson, MN with Rev. Larry Olson officiating. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM and a prayer service at 6:45 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Bernice E. (Norby) Jerve was born in Chippewa County on July 1, 1914 to Willie and Palma (Kjaglien) Norby. She was baptized on August 2, 1914 at Zion Lutheran rural Watson by Rev. Strom and confirmed September 22, 1929 at Big Bend Lutheran. On November 28, 1931, she was united in marriage to Julian Jerve in Big Bend Township. They farmed in Big Bend Township until retiring and moving into Montevideo in 1975. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and was active in the W.E.L.C.A., Mary Circle and Homemakers' Club. She was known for her sewing, making quilt tops for Church, making crafts and her bread baking. She enjoyed playing cards, yahtzee, and uno. She was very friendly and willing to help people. She has been a resident of the Clara City Care Center since December of 2006. She is survived by three sons: Jerome (and Donna) Jerve of Willmar, MN, Gary (and Fusun) Jerve of Valley, NE, and Bruce (and Marlys) Jerve of Alexandria, MN; one daughter, Sherry (and Greg) Norby of Milan, MN; nine grandchildren: Jeff (Becky) Jerve, Cindy (Mike) Botten, Kyle Jerve, Sirvan and Zeynep Kalkan, Justin and Kristen Jerve, Jason (Chanda) Norby and Matt Norby: nine great-grandchildren: Sarah and Adam Jerve, Josh, Sam and Isabella Botten, Cale, Jessa and Ty Norby, Noah Kalkan, and Alex, Jessica and Samantha Peterson; one great-great-grandchild, Tristan Phommathirah; a sister, Delores Teigen of Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Violet Jerve of Plymouth, MN; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Julian in 1988.
