Bertram Bangsund, of Montevideo, died on Tuesday September 26, 1995 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 89.
Funeral services were conducted on Saturday September 30, 1995 at 1:30 P.M. at Saron Lutheran Church with Rev. Wayne Mensing officiatingand Rev. Norman Aronson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Visitation was Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Bertram Elmer Bangsund was born on September 20, 1906 in Leenthrop Township of Chippewa Co., Minnesota to John and Martina Bangsund. He was baptized and confirmed at Saron Lutheran Church, attended rural schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1925. He graduated from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN in 1929. He taught science for several years in Sebeka, MN, Boyd, MN, Bellingham, MN and did substitute teaching in Sacred Heart, MN. On November 28, 1939 he was united in marriage to Esther Mills in Preston, MN. They lived and farmed in Leenthrop Township east of Montevideo until moving into Montevideo in 1987. He was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home. He was a life-long member of Saron Lutheran Church and held various positions in the church, served on the Leenthrop Township Board; was a past member of the Sons of Norway, Senior Citizens, and the Chippewa Co. Historical Society.
He is survived by his wife - Esther; a daughter - Katherine Bangsund of Lincoln, NE; a daughter-in-law - Barbara Bangsund of Brooklyn Park, MN; grandchildren - Aleisha and Brent; and by a sister-in-law - Alice Bangsund of Montevideo.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son - David, sisters - Clara Thomton; Josephine Sachariason and Amanda Hegre; and by brothers - Orvin Bangsund and Alfred Bangsund.
