Betty Jean (Johnson) Knutson

Betty Knutson, of Marshall, formerly of Dawson, died Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at Morningside Heights Care Center in Marshall at the age of 89.

Funeral services will be held Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson.  Pastor Kendall Stelter will officiate, and burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Betty Jean Johnson was born August 2, 1933 on a farm near Clarkfield, MN to Leonard and Hannah (Lindquist) Johnson.  She was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith.  Betty attended and graduated from Clarkfield High School 1952.  She was united in marriage to Murlon Knutson on July 21, 1952 in Granite Falls, MN.  They lived in Clarkfield, Chokio and finally made their home in Dawson.

Betty was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was involved with the church circle.  She was also a member of the VFW Auxiliary for over 50 years.  Betty enjoyed volunteering at the nursing home and delivering meals for meals on wheels. She also enjoyed working with flowers, traveling to Texas with Murlon and spending time at the cabin on Lake Minnewaska.  Ultimately the time she spent with her family was what she cherished most.

Betty is survived by her children; Linda (Leon) Sand of Russel, MN, Karen (Dean) Larson of Dawson, MN, Kenneth (Michelle) Knutson of Starbuck, MN, and Darlene (Jeff) Abraham of Dawson, MN; grandchildren, Stephanie (Mike) Carlson, Deanne, David (Marta), John (Loida), Mark (Rachel), Matthew (Lidia), James (Heather), and Caleb Larson, Nona (Jeff) Stocker, Hannah Larson, Lisa (Nathan) Towne, Luke and Lenny (Heather) Sand, Melanie (Brian) and Keith (Andrea) Knutson, and Ashley and Keith Abraham; great-grandchildren, Patrick and Amanda Carlson, Robert, Thomas, Alice and Kenneth Larson, Callista, Simeon, and RuthAnna Larson, Lily and Levi Larson, Christina, Karen and Timothy Larson, Lucas and Roseanna Larson, Shyanne Towne, Tradyn and Rehtaeh Sand, Linnea Knutson, and Kase, Kohen and Skyler Knutson; brother, Roger (Claudia) Johnson of Bulverde, TX; and several extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Murlon Knutson.
