Betty Nagel, of Montevideo, died on Friday, June 26, 2009 at the North Memorial Hospital in Robbinsdale at the age of 82. Memorial services will be conducted on Wednesday, July 1, 2009 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Interment will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday from 7 - 8 P.M. and with a prayer service at 7:45 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Betty Irene (Ovre) Nagel was born on September 26, 1926 in Watson, MN to Ben and Ida (Allickson) Ovre. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, attended rural schools and graduated from Milan High School in 1944. She was united in marriage to Earl Gilbertson. Following his death she was united in marriage to Vernon Nagel on November 19, 1949 at the Our Saviors Lutheran Parsonage in Montevideo. They lived in Montevideo until moving to Mankato in 1975 and to Lakeville in 1978. They returned to Montevideo in 1986. She was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church and was active in the church women's groups. She enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling, cooking, cats and especially all things involving her family. She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Nagel of Northfield, MN and a son, Gary Nagel of Shoreview, MN; two grandchildren: Derek and Randy Nagel; a brother, Gifford Ovre of St. Paul, MN as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Vernon in 1997, a son, Loren Gilbertson; a brother, Winton Ovre and a sister, Doris Angrimson.
