Betty Joan (Pederson) Nordaune

Betty Nordaune, 67, of Montevideo, died March 17, 1999 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.

Funeral services were held Saturday, March 20, 1999 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter.  Rev. Steven Rheingans officiated  and interment was in the church cemetery.

Betty Joan (Pederson) Nordaune was born March 15, 1932 in Blue Mounds Township, Pope County, MN the daughter of Julian and Ada (Ronnei) Pederson.  She graduated from Starbuck High School in 1950 and received a degree in elementary teaching from State Normal Industrial College at Ellendale, ND in 1953.  Betty taught school for 12 years in Nevis, Stewart, Annandale, and Dawson, MN.  She was united in marriage with Curtis Nordaune August 9, 1964 at East Zion Lutheran Church in Pope County.  They lived in Windom until moving to Dawson in 1971 and later moved to Montevideo in 1978.  Betty did childcare for 15 years for Roger and Martha Molde’s children: Stacey, Laura, Marie, and Kristine.  Betty was active in her church, was a member of the Dawson retired teachers birthday club and was a member of the Baxter Homemakers Club.  She enjoyed working with young children, homemaking and decorating, and traveling.

She is survived by her husband, Curtis; ten brothers and sisters: Roger Pederson of Starbuck, MN, Jerry (Sue) Pederson of Hawley, MN, Sharon (Gary) Boldenow of Fergus Falls, MN, Philip (Elizabeth) Pederson of Sauk Rapids, MN, Dianne (Lynn) Peterson of Willmar, MN, Jeannie (Paul) Pladsen of Richfield, MN, Rollo (Ceil) Pederson of Rogers, MN, Cori (Mike) Becker of Richfield, MN, Florene (Myron) Kallenbach of Maddock, ND, and Harvey (Dianne) Pederson of Starbuck, MN; two aunts; two uncles; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Preceding her in death were her parents; a stillborn son on June 14, 1966; one sister-in-law, Joyce Pederson; and one niece Lori Peterson in infancy.
