Beverly Stratmoen, of Dawson, died June 9, 2015 at Johnson Memorial Home in Dawson, MN at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, June12, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, MN. Rev. Kendall Stelter will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to services and on Thursday, May 11, from 5 - 7 with a prayer service at 6:30 at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
Beverly Stratmoen was born May 30, 1933 in New Ulm, MN to August and Hedwig (Jerve) Schuette. The family lived in New Ulm, Chicago and eventually settled in Montevideo. She was confirmed at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She graduated from Montevideo High School in 1951.
On December 10, 1951, she was united with Roger Stratmoen at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo, MN. They had 7 children together. Not only was Bev a farm wife cooking and helping with farm work, she worked outside of the home at the nursing home and at a home for developmental disabled adults. She was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson and taught Sunday school.
Family was most important to Bev. She enjoyed going to events her grandchildren participated in, especially local sporting events. Bev also was an avid reader of faith based books and participated in bible study with friends. In later years Bev enjoyed watching TV especially the old programs on TV Land. Roger and Bev enjoyed traveling together and took trips to Norway, Arizona, Alaska, Branson California and Tennessee. Her children remember Bev as a person who would do anything for her children and that she was a very good cook especially beef/pork gravy.
She is survived by her seven children: David (Sally) Stratmoen of Glenwood, Cindy (Red) Courneya of Minnetonka, DuWayne Stratmoen of Dawson, Keith (Janet) Stratmoen of Boyd, Philip (Pam) of St. Croix Falls, WI, Timmy Stratmoen of Mankato, and Jon (Stacy) Stratmoen of Dawson; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Roger in 2013; sister, Mildred Johnson; daughter-in-law, Valerie Stratmoen; and other family and friends.
