Blanch "Dar" Dagmar (Thompson) Grant

Dagmar “Dar” Grant died Thursday, November 28, 2002 at the Appleton Nursing Home in Appleton at the age of 91.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at 10:30 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan.  Rev. Wayne Anderson will officiate and interment will be at Kviteseid Lutheran - Milan Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.

Blanche Dagmar (Thompson) Grant was born November 11, 1911 at Milan, MN the daughter of Aslak and Inger (Bergstad) Thompson.  She attended school at Milan High School.  Dagmar was united in marriage with Arlow Grant January 10, 1930 at Milan, MN.  They lived on a farm in the Big Bend area before moving into Milan in 1968.  She had been a resident of the Appleton Nursing Home the past three years.  Dar was very artistic.  She loved flowers, painting, crocheting and sewing.

She is survived by her husband, Arlow of the Appleton Nursing Home; two sons: Arlow Grant and his wife Jane of Big Bend, MN and Robert Grant and his wife Deanna of Milan, MN; one daughter, Mary Schmiesing and her husband Karan of Milan, MN; eleven grandchildren: Heidi Shawd, Jay Randall, Kevin (Mary) Grant, Kathy (Jeff) Westmoreland, Mike Grant, Debra Grant, Rob (Julie) Grant, Ryan (Joan) Grant, Rick Grant, Reid Grant, and Dawn (Brad) Thorstad; eleven great-grandchildren: Sarah, Joseph, David, Amy, Lee, Kelly, Amanda, Matthew, Jaden, Jett, and Nathaniel; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; one son, Jerome in infancy; two sisters: Annie Volden and Alice Volden; and three brothers: Art, Oliver and William Thompson.
