Blenda Olson, of Montevideo, died Wednesday, February 19, 2003 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 95.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2003 at 1:30 P.M. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Watson, MN. Rev. Larry Olson will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Blenda Amanda (Anderson) Olson was born of October 7, 1907 in Baxter Township of Lac Qui Parle County, MN to Casper and Tilla (Anderson) Anderson. She was baptized in November, 1907 and confirmed on October 29, 1922 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter and attended rural schools. On November 29, 1934 she was united in marriage to Elmer Olson. They lived and farmed in Mandt and Rosewood Townships until moving into Montevideo in 1987. She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home for the past 4 ½ years. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Watson, was active in Ladies Aid and served with her husband as church custodians for many years.
She is survived by two sons: Wayne Olson and his wife Janice of Isle, MN and Richard Olson and his wife Barbara of Champlin, MN; five grandchildren: Sherrie Holmes and her husband Keith, Troy Olson and his wife Stacy, Shawn Holt and her husband Phillip, Rick Olson and Jill Olson; four great grandchildren: Abby and Garrett Holmes and Jake and Nicholas Olson; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer in 1989; two brothers: Milton and Alford Anderson; and four sisters: Amanda Anderson, Lydia Bornus, Selma Stover and Edna Sandbakken.
