Bruce Molden

December 31, 1940 — December 30, 2012

Bruce Molden, of rural Montevideo, died on Sunday, December 30, 2012 at his home at the age of 71.  Memorial services will be conducted on Thursday, January 3, 2012 at 10:30 A.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church in Watson with Rev. Larry Olson officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.  Visitation will be Wednesday from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Watson Lutheran Church.

Bruce Harlen Molden was born on December 31, 1940 in Big Bend Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Harris and Harriet (Johnson) Molden.  He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and attended rural schools and Milan Public Schools.  He left school to pursue his love of farming and work in his father’s shop. At age 18 he joined the National Guard.  On January 9, 1971 he was united in marriage to Lynn Torgeson at the Watson Lutheran Church. Together they farmed the home farm where Bruce had lived since he was 10 years old, and raised their four daughters there. He loved farming and doing the best job he could do.  When he wasn’t farming, he was in his shop doing machine work or woodworking. He was a member of the Watson Lutheran Church and Legion Post #359 in Milan. Bruce loved to fish and spend time at the cabin on Big Stone Lake with his family and friends.  He enjoyed spearing on Lac qui Parle Lake and going to garage sales. He loved to work and was always dreaming up projects to do.  His family was his top priority and he was very proud of his daughters and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Lynn; daughters: Angel Molden of Montevideo; and Amber Molden, April (and Ryan) Borstad, and Andrea (and Guy) Block, all of Appleton, MN; grandchildren: Ashton and Addison Molden, Sophia and Lelia Block, Rya and Harris Borstad, with another Block and Borstad baby on the way; his mother, Harriet Molden; sisters: Phyllis (and Stanley) Baldwin of Montevideo; Darlene (and Jerry) Borg of Watson, MN and Barbara (and Larry) Christenson of Montevideo.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harris; an infant daughter in 1974; in-laws, Levern and Harriet Torgeson; and  grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins.
