Burdette DeGriselles died Saturday, July 27, 2019 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis at the age of 80.
Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Pastor Sam Kautz officiating.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo. Visitation will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.
Burdette Valin DeGriselles was born on December 24, 1938 in Pipestone, MN to Franklin Lee and Byrdella (Sweet) DeGriselles. He was baptized and confirmed at the United Methodist Church of Pipestone. He attended and graduated from Pipestone High School. Following high school, Burdette served his country in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard. After serving his country, he attended the University of Minnesota. In the course of his career, he worked for chemical companies as an agronomist. On June 11, 1988, Burdette was united in marriage to Linda Quist at the First Presbyterian Church of Marshall, MN.
Burdette was active in his church as part of the congregation and the chairperson of the Finance Committee for many years. He and Linda were members of the USS Bon Homme Richard Shipmates Association where he served as secretary-treasurer. Burdette enjoyed hunting, reading, cooking, good conversation, history, politics and travel. His love for his wife and family will be forever remembered. He was always willing to lend a helping hand when he could, and he was a kind and caring man.
Burdette is survived by his wife, Linda; his children: Dana Sweet (Erich Wunderlich) of Minneapolis, MN, Kristin (Quang) Quist-Vo of Sioux City, IA, Markus (Kari Kranz) Quist of Montevideo; his amazing grandchildren: William Ruddy, Peter (Elizabeth) Ruddy, Elizabeth Ruddy, Catherine (Samuel) Sweet, Margaret Ruddy, Lily Sweet and a great-grandbaby on the way; sister Beva Lee Wunderlich of Duluth, MN and brother Bruce DeGriselles of Keenesburg CO; along with extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Franklin Lee and Byrdella DeGriselles.
