Burnett Pearson, of rural Montevideo, died on Sunday, April 17, 2011 at his home at the age of 84. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at 10:30 AM at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Tim Wheatley officiating. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 25th from 5-7:00 PM with a prayer service at 6:30 PM. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Burnett Gordon Pearson was born on December 24, 1926 on the Carlson family farm in Sparta Township of Chippewa County, MN to Godfrey and Ruth (Carlson) Pearson. He was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He attended school in District #16 and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy. On June 20, 1948 he was united in marriage to Marlys Johnson in Benson, MN. They lived on a family farm in Sparta Township, where he was a life-long farmer. He was a member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church, a member of the American Legion and a life member of the V.F.W. He loved to play the accordian, playing at nursing homes, county fairs and many other places in a wide area. He liked camping, was a great mechanic and enjoyed being at home on the farm. He is survived by his wife, Marlys; two daughters: Catherine (and Rodney) Graham of San Juan, TX and Sue Davis of Dennison, TX; four grandchildren: Jeremy (and Tabatha) Shourds, Dustin (and Julie) Shourds, Thomas Clark and Eric Clark; three great grandchildren; a sister, Violet Gustafson of Granite Falls, MN and a nephew, Kenneth (Lois) Gustafson of Litchfield, MN.. He was preceded in death by his parents, a great grandchild, Taylor Shourds and by a brother-in-law, Chester Gustafson.
