Burnette (Burt) Larson, age 93, of Milan, died peacefully Thursday, April 27, 2017, after a short stay at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Monday, May 1, 2:00 PM at Big Bend Lutheran Church. Rev. Doris Weber will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Sunday, April 30, from 5:00 - 7:00 PM at the Anderson-TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and for one hour prior to the service.
Burt was born to Edwin and Eleanor (Gulden) Tostenson on February 15, 1924 in Mandt Township, Chippewa County, MN. She was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church and graduated from Milan High School in 1942. On December 15, 1946, she was united in marriage to Wallace Larson at Jevnaker Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with four children: Marsha, Bruce, Brad and Richard, nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren, who fondly called her GG. As a member of Big Bend Lutheran, she used her God-given gifts of preparing and sharing delicious food whenever needed. She enjoyed fellowship in Bible study and committee work. Burt will fondly be remembered and admired for the support and love that she demonstrated by attending her family's activities up until the end of her life.
Burt and Wally enjoyed friends and family gatherings. Their strong faith and church involvement was a testimony and inspiration to their whole family.They both loved to play and watch sports. Over the years Burt's many interests included; dancing with Wally, traveling to Texas, watching the Twins, card playing, bowling, golfing, softball, knitting, crocheting and baking. Her family really enjoyed her lefse, flatbread, klub, and doughnuts!!
She is survived by her three children: Marsha (Lee) Boraas, Cold Spring, MN; Bruce (Vicki) Larson, Fargo, ND; and Brad (Cindy) Larson, Fergus Falls, MN. Her grandchildren include; Kim (Graham) Nelson, Rob (Lisa) Boraas, Amy (Alex) Jaramillo, Karin (Jamie) Wirth, Anne (Mike) Rydell, Sara (Brian) Halverson, Jenna (Brian) Knoblauch, Andrew Larson (fiancé Dakota Passariello), Kaitlin Larson (fiance Donny Tabery) and great-grandchildren include: Levi, Elan, Shae, Kobe, Mitchell, Taylor, Cade, Aliah, Amari, Alijah, Audrey, Lucy, Evelyn, Anna, James, John, Tatum, Quinton, Ellie, and Bennett. She is survived by two brothers; Arlo (Janet) Tostenson of Milan, MN and Kenny (Dar) Tostenson of Montevideo, MN; a sister, Dorothy (Wayne) Gustafson of Montevideo, MN; and many precious nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Wally in 2003; a son, Rick in 1981; a great-granddaughter, Sophia Rydell; a brother-in-law, Ken Anderson; and a sister-in-law, Sally Tostenson.
She will be dearly missed as the matriarch of her family.
