C.A. “Bud” Albrecht, of Montevideo, died on Monday, February 17, 2003 at his home at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, February 22, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Donald McKee officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening, with the family from 6 - 8 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
C.A. “Bud” Albrecht was born on December 14, 1921 in Montevideo, MN to Waldemar E. and LaVerna (Guse) Albrecht. He was baptized at St. Paul Lutheran Church and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Montevideo. He attended Montevideo schools and graduated from Montevideo High School in 1939. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. On September 6, 1941, he was united in marriage to Ardyce Bremseth in Madison, MN. He worked as a cabinet maker, owning and operating Albrecht Cabinet Shop before retiring. He was a talented woodworker and handicrafter. He crafted and played many musical instruments, most recently his psalmodikons (one stringed instruments) and enjoyed square dancing with the “Monte Merry Squares” and golfing. He was an active member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church and served on the Board of Deacons and Board of Trustees, was a Bethel Bible Study Teacher, a Sunday School teacher, an usher and an officer in Sr. Lites. He was a lifetime member of American Legion Post #59.
He is survived by his wife Ardyce; eight children: John Albrecht and his wife Sandy of Montevideo, Avonelle Johnson and her husband Dean of Willmar, MN, Tom Albrecht and his wife Leanna of Montevideo, Priscilla Reineke and her husband Tom of Alexandria, MN, Warren Albrecht and his wife Annette of Montevideo, Layton Albrecht of Montevideo, Carl Albrecht of Chandler, AZ and Emily Evenson and her husband Steve of Montevideo; 29 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; one sister, June Fokken of Clara City, MN; two aunts: Victoria “Vicky” Norman of Montevideo and Ruth Niedballa of Waterville, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Adam Albrecht; one sister, Dagmar “Dottie” Einerson; two sisters in infancy: Lois and Patricia Albrecht; and three brothers-in-law.
