Carl Fokken

June 30, 1931 — December 4, 2012

Carl Fokken, of Montevideo, died Tuesday, December 4, 2012 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 81.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2012 at 2:00 PM at Hope Reformed Church in Montevideo.  Pastor Dean Meeter will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Carl Fokken was born June 30, 1931 in Rheiderland Township, Chippewa County, MN the son of William and Elizabeth (Tebben) Fokken.  He attended school in Dist. 69 and also in Clara City.  He was baptized at Bethany Reformed Church.  Carl served in the US Army.  He was united in marriage with Marlyn Christianson October 15, 1960 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  They lived at Raymond and Gluek before moving to a farm outside of Montevideo.   They moved into Montevideo in 1976 and Carl worked at Moduline, Regal and Friendship Homes.  He was also the custodian at Hope Reformed Church for 30 years.

He is survived by his wife, Marlyn; five children: Jonay (George) Gilbertson of Bloomington, MN, Kimberly (Dwight) Johnson of Northwood, ND, Carla (Todd) Petersen of Stewart, MN, Leon (Melissa) Fokken of Montevideo, MN and Kris (Todd) Bach of Dawson, MN; 13 grandchildren: Trisha (Jake) Mikelson, Tiffany Johnson, Tonya Olson, Lacey Petersen, Kasjen Petersen, Dalton Bach, Grace Bach, Kyra Fokken, Christian Fokken, Sebastian Fokken, Grayson Fokken, Kadin Fokken, and Jeweliah Fokken; 5 great-grandchildren: Makena Mikelson, Mason Mikelson, Mak Mikelson, Lexus Olson, and Kael Holman; two brothers: Henry Fokken of Clara City, MN and Leonard (Lorraine) Fokken of Clara City, MN; a sister-in-law, MaryAnn Fokken of Willmar, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; a son, Byron; a daughter, Marilyn; a twin brother, Calvin; and a sister-in-law, Marlene Fokken.
