Carl Hanson, of Milan, died on Sunday, March 12, 2000 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 91.
Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday, March 15, 2000 at 11:00 AM at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The Strand Funeral Service of Milan was in charge of funeral arrangements.
Carl Frederick Hanson was born on September 23, 1908 in Kragero Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Hans & Anne (Benson) Hanson. He was baptized and confirmed at Kviteseid Lutheran Church and grew up in the Milan, MN area. He graduated from Milan High School and the Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND. On November 21, 1941 he was united in marriage to Mildred Quammen They farmed on his home farm until moving into Milan in 1972. He had just recently moved to the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo. Even after retiring from farming he continued to use his farming habits with his yard work and planting of trees. He was a lifelong member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church and was active in it’s Men’s Society. He was active in the Lions Club, Milan Senior Citizens, Senior Federation, Farmers Union, 4H, Community Education Advisory Council and received a Milan Citizenship Award in 1998.
He is survived by his wife - Mildred of Montevideo; by a son - Russell Hanson and his wife RoseAnn of Milan, MN; daughters - Marlys Kvistero and her husband Keith and Jane Link and her husband Marvin, both of Milan, MN; 9 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and a brother - Henry Hanson of Appleton, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister - Alice Fremo and an infant brother.
