Carol Harberts was born on July 18, 1950 in Dawson to Maxe and Esther (Wallem) Christensen. Carol attended Dawson High School and graduated in 1968. She married Hanley Mortenson in 1970 and had their son Chad. On March 23, 1979 Carol was united in marriage to Roger Harberts at the First Presbyterian Church in Dawson. The family resided in Dawson as well as other numerous places before eventually settling in Madison in 1985.
Carol had the love of farming, working as a CNA and librarian, and taking care of animals. She loved raising dogs and riding horse. She also enjoyed football, cheering on her number one team the Vikings and then the Kansas City Chiefs, especially Patrick Mahomes. Chocolate, iced coffee, and ice cream were a few of her favorites as she had quite a sweet tooth. When Carol was able, she was a number one caregiver to her family and others. Family will cherish that Carol loved her grandchildren very much.
Carol is survived by her children: Chad (Shelly) Mortenson, Dan (Sue) Harberts, Lori Harberts; grandchildren: Raven, Kylee, and Camryn Mortenson, Brandon and Bryan Harberts, Nathan and Danielle Harberts, and 12 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Maxe and Esther Christensen, her husband, Roger and brother Robert Christensen.
