Carol Nelson of Dawson died on Tuesday, November 30, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 74.
Memorial services will be held on Friday, January 7, 2022 at 1:30 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating..
Visitation will be held for one hour before the service. Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.
Carol Ann Nelson was born in Pipestone, MN to Charles and Arlene (Otkin) Kuehl on January 14, 1947. She grew up and attended school in Verdi, MN. She was very active in activities at school including: cheerleading, chorus, library and school newspaper. Carol graduated from Verdi High School in 1965. Carol married Roger Nelson in Verdi on May 14, 1966. They started their life together in San Diego, CA, but soon began a series of adventures that took them across the US before finally settling in Dawson in 1985. They had three sons together: Mike, Travis, and Scott.
Carol worked in housekeeping and health information at the hospital in Dawson for several years. She enjoyed flower gardening, doing hand work, fishing and camping. By far her greatest love was for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her husband, Roger; sons: Mike (Kate) Nelson, Reno NV, Travis (Marlene) Nelson, Colton SD, Scott (Diana) Nelson, Tipp City, OH; grandchildren: Christopher (Christen) Nelson, Leanna Galyk, Leah (Justin) Miller, Cassie (Austin McGuire) Nelson, Ty Nelson, Shelby (David) Westmeyer, Nick Nelson, Justin (Kylee) Nelson, Zachary Nelson; 7 great-grandchildren: Logan, Gabby, Isla, Emma, Roger, Gracyson, Calvin; siblings: Don (Phyllis) Kuehl, Verdi, MN, Robert Kuehl, Lake Benton, MN, Dorothy Henningson, Verdi, MN, Mae Goertz, Lake Benton, MN; as well as extended family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers: Hank Kuehl and Dick Kuehl; and two sisters: Evelyn Clark and Marge Selken.
