Carol Parks, 64, of Montevideo, died Thursday, February 21, 2002 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2002 10:30 A.M. at First Presbyterian Church in Maynard. Rev. Beverly Crute will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery at Montevideo.
Visitation will be held Monday, afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. The family will be present from 6-8:00 P.M. and there will be a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Carol Joyce (Kleinheksel) Parks was born March 5, 1937 at Archer, IA the daughter of Cecil and Grace (Sorensen) Kleinheksel. She was baptized and confirmed in May of 1949 at Sterling Methodist Church, rural Brookings, SD. Carol graduated from Brookings High School in 1955 and later from Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls, SD. She was united in marriage with Marvin Parks October 3, 1959 at Wesley Methodist Church in Sioux Falls, SD. They lived in Sioux Falls, Garden City, and Ramona, SD before moving to Maynard, MN in 1967 and later to Montevideo, MN in 1984. She worked as a laser operator at Innovex in Montevideo from 1989 until 2000. Carol enjoyed sewing, making quilts, crocheting, crafts, gardening flowers, and genealogy. She was an Elder, Women’s Association Secretary, and a life member of the Women’s Association. Carol was diagnosed with AMML (Acute Myleo-monogenious Leukemia) on September 11, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Marvin; three children: Wendy Klager and her husband Pete of Farmington, MN, Cindy Bauer and her husband Jay of Apple Valley, MN, and Jeffrey Parks and his wife Gretchen of Prior Lake, MN; six grandchildren: Scott, Amanda, and Max Bauer and David, Michael and Benjamin Parks; and two sisters: Nancy Nelson of Watertown, SD and Lynda (Dick) Mudder of Brookings, SD.
Preceding her in death were her parents and one sister, Gertie Mae Kleinheksel.
