Caroline Armstrong, of Clara City, died on Thursday, June 5, 2003 at the Clara City Care Center at the age of 84.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 10, 2003 at 2:00 P.M. at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church with Rev. Carlton Nelson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Caroline Marcella (Zielsdorf) Armstrong was born on September 5, 1918 in Grace Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Herman and Clara (Narum) Zielsdorf. She was baptized on October 4, 1918 and confirmed on November 27, 1932 at Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church and attended and graduated from rural school district #56. On January 21, 1940 she was united in marriage to Orlin Armstrong at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. She lived all her married life on a farm in Louriston Township, and after her husband’s death moved into Clara City. She was currently a resident of the Clara City Care Center. She was a lifelong member of Buffalo Lake Lutheran Church, was active in and office holder and president of the Ladies Aid, was Sunday School Superintendent and was a 4-H Adult leader. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, flowers, quilting, baking cakes, playing bingo and cards, and her family, especially grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her six children: Joyce Heinecke and her husband Hank of Tracy, CA; Audrey Armstrong and special friend David Robeck of Anoka, MN; Darlene Erion and her husband Norman of St. Michael, MN; Ronald Armstrong and his wife Norma of Madison, MN; Susan Armstrong of Montevideo, MN and Carl Smith and his wife Phyllis of Belgrade, MN; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Nohrenberg of Minneapolis as well as by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins..
She was preceded by her parents, her husband Orlin in 1984; a granddaughter, Patricia Heinecke; a brother, Harold Zielsdorf and by four sisters: Myrtle Smith; Helen Kisling; Adeline Wanberg; and Latone Gillette.
