Caroline "Carnie" Olson, of Montevideo, died on Wednesday July 26, 1995 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 81.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday July 29, 1995 at 1: 30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Warren Broughton officiating. Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Caroline "Carnie" (Gilsrud) Olson was born on December 2, 1913 in Chippewa Co., MN to Albert and Bertha (Johnson) Gilsrud. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church. Caroline attended rural schools and attended and graduated from Montevideo High School. She was united in marriage with Melvin A. Olson on September 21, 1934 in Milbank, SD. They lived and farmed for many years in Sparta Township. She began working for Givan Office Supply in Montevideo in the early 60's as a sales person and continued to work there when its name changed to Welker's Office Supply until retiring in 1977. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was active in circle and women's group activities.
She is survived by her husband - Melvin; by a daughter - Carol (Charles) McDougal of Richmond, KY; by grandchildren - Tyre and Pamela McDougal - both of Richmond, KY and Mark McDougal of Tipton, MO; by great grandchildren - Matthew McDougal of Richmond, KY and Jessica McDougal of Cincinnati, OH; and by sisters - Emelie Stenson of Cannon Falls, MN and Nora Eichhorst of Montevideo.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by a daughter - Marlene Olson; by a sister - Thelma Gilsrud; and by brothers - Clarence and Albie Gilsrud.
