Carolyn Ann (Botten) Knudson passed away peacefully on September 14, 2024 at Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 84.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30PM on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Saron Lutheran Church, rural Maynard, with Rev. Matt Danielson officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 12:00PM to 1:30PM at the church on the day of the service.
Carolyn Ann (Botten) Knudson was born, June 23rd, 1940 to Selmer and Clarinda (Peterson) Botten of Montevideo, MN. Carolyn grew up attending Our Saviors Lutheran Church and attended school in Montevideo where she met her high school sweetheart Stan, and they shared 63 years of marriage. In these 63 years of marriage Stan & Carolyn welcomed 5 children. Anne (Peter) Goldschmidt of Duluth, Michael (Marjorie) Knudson of Maynard, Kristin (Michael) Grove of Red Wing, Nancy (Loren) Berndt of Shakopee, and Sara (Craig Dummer) Knudson of Fargo.
For many years, Carolyn took great care of her family in both Appleton & Montevideo. In 1986 Carolyn made the brave decision to go back to college to earn her Bachelors degree in Education. She taught 5th grade in Montevideo until her retirement in 2000. In retirement Stan & Carolyn spent much of their time traveling to be with family. She also greatly enjoyed quilting, baking, and playing cards with friends. Their family was Carolyn’s pride and joy. Their 14 grandchildren were blessed to have them at sporting events, school activities, church sacraments, and many other celebrations. Matt Goldschmidt (Kassie), Allison Ternes (Sean), Ryan Knudson (Brianna), Tyler Grove (Lydia), Evan Goldschmidt, Stephanie Berndt, Kayla Knudson, Lauren Renville (Josh), Blake Goldschmidt, Jacob Berndt (Miranda), Katherine Knudson (fiancé Christian Kanten), Mitchell, Erin & Michael Dummer.
They were also blessed with 8 beautiful great grandchildren. Gavin, Charlie Kay, Stanley, Henry, Bella, Archie, Charles, Owen, and baby Grove on the way.
Carolyn was an active member of Saron Lutheran Church where she enjoyed bible studies, quilting, fellowship, and many friends. She volunteered with many different organizations where she was able to make a difference. She was also an active giver to any organization that asked for her money
Carolyn is survived by her husband Stanley of 63 years, all their children & spouses, grandchildren, and great grand children. She is survived by her sister- in -law Marlys Botten (Cambridge) and by many nieces, nephews, wonderful friends & family.
Carolyn was welcomed to heaven by her parents, her brother, Robert Botten and many other special friends and family.
In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Saron Lutheran Church in memory of Carolyn.
