Carolyn Romsaas

November 2, 1933 — December 24, 2016

Carolyn Erickson Romsaas, formerly of Boyd, went home to be with her Savior on Saturday, Dec. 24, at her residence, Commons of Marice Senior Living Community in Eagan, MN at the age of 83.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter with Vicar Matt Danielson officiating.  Interment will be in the Church Cemetery.  Visitation will be held for one hour before the service at the church.

Carolyn was born Nov. 2, 1933, in Montevideo, the daughter of Roy and Lilly (Anderson) Erickson. She attended Montevideo High School and graduated in 1951.  She was united in marriage with Warren Romsaas on Nov. 13, 1954, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Warren preceded her in death on July, 3, 2001. They were blessed with 46 years of marriage.  Carolyn lived the majority of her life in the Montevideo area. While missing her hometown greatly, she moved to Eagan in 2013 to make rich family memories in her final years.

Carolyn and Warren farmed in Baxter Township near Boyd, Minn., for all their married life. They were active members of Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter, where Carolyn volunteered and held many positions over the years including treasurer of the Church Council and Sunday School teacher and superintendent. She was a talented quilt maker and blessed her grandchildren and family with many of her beautiful quilts. Her passion for Norwegian heritage and genealogy culminated in a lifelong dream trip to Norway with Warren in the 1990's.

Many will recall Carolyn demonstrated love for family and friends by sharing her gift of cooking and baking, in addition to good conversation. She especially enjoyed bringing her baked goods, along with a warm heart and listening ear, to elderly shut-ins in the community.

She is survived by: her daughters Pam (Brad) Kittleson of Burnsville, and Julie Lynch also of Burnsville; three grandchildren Lauren (Jay) Escobar-Haskins, Christian Kittleson and Ryan (Tiffany) Lynch; great grandchildren, Brady Lynch, Adele Escobar-Haskins, Dominic Escobar-Haskins and Ella Escobar-Haskins; brother Don (Darlene) Erickson; and sister-in-law Esther Brunsdale of Coral Gables, Fla.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, brother Charles Erickson, sister-in-law Alvina Erickson, brother-in-law Wayne Brunsdale, and nephew Shayne Brunsdale.

Blessed be her memory.
