Carolyn (Klepfer) Thorsen

Carolyn Thorsen died Monday, August 28, 2006 at her home in Moultonborough, NH at the age of 71.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 2, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, MN with  Rev. Thomas Opoien and Rev. Kirsten Klepfer  officiating.  Interment will be in Kviteseid Lutheran Milan Methodist Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5-7:00 PM Friday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, MN with a prayer service at 7:00 PM.

Carolyn (Klepfer) Thorsen, was born on April 8, 1935 in Cedar Falls, IA to Harold and Lenora (Holm) Klepfer.  She was baptized at the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Falls and graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1953. She was united in marriage to Thomas Thorsen in Walker, MN As a young woman she worked in the admissions office at Carlton College in Northfield, MN.  They moved eight times while raising their four children before retiring to Moultonborough, NH and Palm Beach Gardens, FL. She was currently residing in Venice, FL and Moultonborough, NH. Carolyn was an advocate for mental health legislation and attended continuing education classes at Dartmouth College.  She was a devoted wife and mother, a best friend to her four children and loved and cared deeply for her extended family and many friends.  She was a reader, an exquisite decorator, and enjoyed playing golf, cross stitchery and cooking.

She is survived by three children: Elaine Thorsen of Moultonborough, NH, Ellen Thorsen of Frankfort, KY and Kathryn Cunningham of Sandy Hook, CT; four grandchildren: Scott and Ashley Cannady and Makena and Geneva Cunningham; three brothers: Harold Klepfer of San Jose, CA, James Klepfer of Greenville, NC and Scott Klepfer of Cedar Falls, IA; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Thomas in 1999; a son, David Thorsen in 2003; and a brother, Marvin Klepfer.
