Catherine Christie, of Montevideo, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 82.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 1:30 PM at the United Methodist Church in Montevideo with Pastor Gwen Bohlke officiating.
Catherine Marie (Varsnick) Christie was born November 25, 1931 in Granite Falls, MN the daughter or Henry and Mabel (Clausen) Varsnick. She attended school in Granite Falls. Her parents died when she was a young girl and she lived with relatives in Montevideo. Catherine worked as a waitress at Tise's Cafe, a truck stop, and Hi-Way Cafe. She met Harley Christie and they were married October 20, 1947 at Stillwater, MN. They farmed in Sparta Township, Chippewa County. She started Histyle Upholstery in the mid 1960's with Harriet Nordby. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, the VFW Auxiliary, and the Eagles. Catherine was a great cook, very good at crochet, and loved doing sweet corn.
She is survived by two sons: Gary (and Barbara) Christie of Ottertail, MN and Daniel Christie of Hutchinson, MN; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Beatrice Phinney of Wood Lake, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Harley May 14, 2010; three sisters: Dorothy, Phylis, and Joyce; and two brothers: Arthur and Robert.
