Charles Craigmile

Charles Craigmile died Thursday, September 7, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Care Center in Dawson at the age of 94.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Antelope Hills Christian Church in Canby.  Burial will be at Antelope Hills Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 5 - 7:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson and at the church for one hour before the service.

Charles Arthur Craigmile was born March 27, 1929 to Charles and Myrtle (Lindquist) Craigmile in Canby, MN. He graduated from Dawson High School and went to the U of M Farm Campus. It was there he met his future wife Bette, through his sister Verna. Chuck and Bette were married June 4, 1949 in Minneapolis. To this union two sons were born, Vincent and Mark.

He lived and worked in Dawson his whole life. He made many lifelong friends who shared his love of fishing, bowling and golf. Chuck and Bette enjoyed many years of travel after retirement. For those that knew Chuck, he was a man of great patience and few words. If you remember who he was married to you know why. (Bette is smiling at that statement!)

Chuck is preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife, Bette; sister, Verna; brother in laws: Clayton and Gerald; and his grandson, Chas.

Survived by sons Vincent (Debra) and Mark (Cindy); grandchildren: Jonathan, Justin (Yvette), Kristin (Chris), Cathryne (Adam) and Vincent Jr.; great-grandchildren Brooklyn, Eli, Ella, Charlie, Cruz and Charlee; brother-in-law, Dennis (Judy) Burkstrand; and many nieces and nephews.

Chuck lived his last few years being wonderfully cared for at JMHS Care Center where he was lovingly known as “Papa Chuck”. Chuck was a gentleman and a gentle man. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Antelope Hills Church building fund.
