Chester Birdeen Heieren

Chester Heieren died Saturday, February 14, 2004 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 84.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Don McKee will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.

Chester Birdeen Heieren was born March 31, 1919 in Baxter Township, Lac Qui Parle County, MN the son of Christian and Bertha (Agre) Heieren.  He was baptized May 11, 1919 and confirmed November 5, 1933 at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter.  Chet graduated from Montevideo High School in 1937.  He served in the Home Guard and was united in marriage with Inez Molde August 29, 1944 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  They made their home and farmed in Baxter Township until moving into Brookside Manor in 1998.  He served on the school board, township board, and the church council.  Chet enjoyed the outdoors especially hunting and fishing and watching birds and wildlife.  He also enjoyed time with family and also spending time with his nieces and nephews.  The time spent at Lac Qui Parle Lake was very special to him.

He is survived by his wife, Inez; three children: Craig Heieren and his wife Mary of Fridley, MN, Beverly Anderson and her husband Milton of Anoka, MN, and Mark Heieren and his wife Mary Jo of Apple Valley, MN; six grandchildren: Rhonda (Steve) Robb, Kristin (Cary) Robinson, Stephanie (Gary) Burgess, Erika (Tom) Scheider, Eric (Nikki Brooks) Heieren, and Kelsey Heieren; six great-grandchildren: Annika, Morgan, Hunter, Mitchell, Ethan, and Rylie; two sisters: Ancile Thompson of Dawson, MN and Eleanor Molde of Montevideo, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents.
