Clara M. (Haugerud) Anderson

Clara M. Anderson, of Montevideo,  died on Monday, March 22, 2004 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 98.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, March 25, 2004 at 1:30 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Kurt Hoover officiating.  Burial will be in the Watson Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening and with the family from 4:30 - 6 PM  at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo and one hour prior to service at the church.  Anderson Funeral Home of Montevideo is in charge of funeral arrangements.

Clara M. Anderson was born on January 28, 1906 in Swift County, MN to Ole and Gertrude (Hanson) Haugerud.  She was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church.  She attended rural and Montevideo schools and graduated from Appleton High School in 1926.  On September 24, 1928, she was united in marriage to Stanley O. Anderson at Big Bend.  She has lived her entire married life in Montevideo.  She was a long-time member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and was active in teaching Sunday School, Altar Guild and its women’s groups.  She was active in VFW Auxiliary, Girl Scout leadership and the Sons of Norway.  She has been a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home since December of 2001.

She is survived by four children: Gerald Anderson and his wife Barbara of Roseville, MN , Kathryn Korte and her husband Robert  of Galena, IL, Carole Pitt and her husband Gordy of Coon Rapids, MN,  and Shirley Parke and her husband Jim of Weston, CT; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; a sister, Lillian Anderson of Shawnee, OK; as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley in 1982; five brothers: James, Melvin, Oliver and Joseph Haugerud and Andrew in infancy; and three sisters: Anna Geary, Ruth Bakke and Othelia Bernard.
