Clara Mork, of Montevideo, died on Saturday May 13, 1995 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo at the age of 86.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday May 16, 1995 at 1:30 PM at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter with Rev. Wayne Mensing and Rev. Richard Mork officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday afternoon and evening and with the family from 6:30 - 8 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.
Clara Bertine (Nordaune) Mork was born on January 18, 1909 in Lac qui Parle Co., MN to Jens and Christine (Moseng) Nordaune. She was baptized and confirmed at Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter. She attended rural schools at District 5 and graduated from Lutheran Normal School in Madison in 1927. She attended teachers training in Montevideo. She was united in marriage to Oscar Mork on March 22, 1932 at her family home. They farmed in Lac Qui Parle Co., MN for many years. Following the death of her husband, she was a housemother at the Girls' School in Sauk Centre, MN. and at Mankato State University before retiring in 1974 and moving to Montevideo. She was currently a resident of the Luther Haven Nursing Home. She was a member of Our Saviours Lutheran Church of Baxter and had been active in its women's groups.
Clara is survived by a daughter - Wanda Sommerfeld and her husband Dennis of Dawson, MN; grandchildren - Michael Mork; Jeffrey Mork; Daniel Mork; Dale Sommmerfeld; Janet Gray; Lori Erickson; Dawn Lende; and Darcy Catlett; 12 great grandchildren ; by a brother - Herbert Nordaune and his wife Myrtle of Montevideo, MN; by a brother-in-law - Melvin Hofland of Benson, MN. and by a sister-in-law - Florence Nordaune of Montevideo, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents, by her husband Oscar in 1962; by a son - Merlyn; by twins and triplets in infancy; by 2 great grandchildren - Kyle Erickson and Irena Sommerfeld; by sisters - Inga Nordaune; Elianna Gemsey; Hilda Hofland; Christine Nordaune; and Palma Hofland; and by brothers - Elvin, Andrew, Clarence and Harold Nordaune.
