Clara Treese died Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the Clarkfield Care Center at the age of 93. Memorial services will be held Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Clarkfield Care Center with Rev. Donald S. McKee officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo. Clara Jeanette (Root) Treese was born July 8, 1917 at Benson, MN the daughter of John and Mabel (Reeder) Root. She was baptized and confirmed at the Benson Episcopal Church and she graduated from Benson High School in 1934. Clara was united in marriage with Leo Treese January 8, 1938. They made their home in Kandiyohi, MN and moved to Montevideo in 1952. She worked at First National Bank which later became Klein Bank for many years. Clara also played piano for a dance studio in Montevideo. She was an active member at Our Saviors Lutheran Church and a member of the Altar Guild. Clara had lived the last 3 years at the Clarkfield Care Center where she was in expert, gentle hands. She is survived by her daughter, Julie Madura of St. Paul, MN; four grandchildren: Stacy (Matthew) Szabo of New York, John Leo (Melissa) Madura of Texas, Elie (Analise) Treese of France and Carl Treese of France; eight great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Cathrine of France; former daughter-in-law, Babeth of France; a foreign exchange student daughter, Claire of Switzerland; and nieces and nephews. Clara also adopted Cindy Knudsen of Montevideo who care lovingly for her prior to her residence at the Clarkfield Care Center. Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Leo in 1967; and her son, John LeRoy.
