Clarence Morris Sherod

Clarence Sherod died Wednesday, March 14, 2007 at his home in Montevideo at the age of 88.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 17, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Montevideo.  Rev. Tim Ehling will officiate and interment will be at Watson Lutheran Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo, with the family present from 5 - 7 PM.

Clarence Morris Sherod was born on April 30, 1918 in Ortonville, MN to Morris John and Bertha (Danielson) Sherod.  He was baptized and confirmed at Eidskog in Ortonville, MN. Clarence graduated from Ortonville High School in 1938.  He was united in marriage with Myrtle Anderson in Montevideo on February 1, 1941.  They lived in St. Paul for 4 years where he worked as a  street car conductor before moving to a farm in the Ortonville area.  They moved to Montevideo in 1952.  Clarence worked at Coast to Coast, Zaiser Dairy, Minneapolis Moline, and as a carpenter from 1966-80.  He then had the car wash until 1990.  He was a member of the Model Railroad Club and the Eagles.  Clarence enjoyed working on model railroads.

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle: five children: Lorelei Andresen, Ron Sherod and wife Diane, Eloise Valentino and husband Gabe, O’Neil Sherod and wife Karen all from Montevideo, and Jeff Sherod and wife Barb of Winona, MN; two brothers: Orville Sherod and wife Lois of Odessa, MN and Wilbert Sherod and wife Mary Lou of New London, MN; seven grandchildren: Angela (Bryce) Curtiss, Kim (Rick) Klocek, Jackelyn (Aaron) Sachs, Carly Sherod, Collin Sherod, Jennifer Sherod, and Kyle (Melissa) Sherod; ten great-grandchildren: Jocelyn and Joshua Nerison, Cory Klocek, Dane Sherod, Joseph and Morgan Curtiss, Cole and Alyssa Sachs, Tara and Brenna Sherod; two great-great-grandchildren: Arianna and Drew Nerison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his parents; two brothers: Marvin and Ernest Sherod; one sister: Lillian Haugerud; and one grandson, Kevin Sherod.
