Clifford Harold Lindseth was born October 18, 1911, on a farm in Garfield Township to Hans and Sophie (Ness) Lindseth. He was baptized and confirmed at the Garfield Lutheran Church and attended rural school in Garfield Township. He farmed with his father until March, 1941, when he moved with the family to Dawson.
On January 1, 1942, he was united in marriage to Ella Dahl. To this union two sons were born, Gerald and Alan.
He was inducted into service in July of 1942, serving with the Army Engineers in Germany, England, France, and Belgium and was honorably discharged in November of 1945. At that time he returned to Dawson where he was employed at the feed mill of the Farmers' Cooperative Elevator until his retirement in 1974.
Cliff died at the Johnson Memorial Home on Monday, June 26, 2000, at the age of 88 years, 8 months, and 8 days.
He is survived by his wife, Ella; sons: Gerald (Sylvia) of Anoka and Alan of Dawson; 3 grandchildren: Rhonda (Scott) Mahowald of Ramsey, Andrew of Minneapolis, and Joshua of Anoka; 2 great-grandchildren: Jodi and Thomas Mahowald of Ramsey; one sister, Blossom Skjei of Madison; brother-in-law, Merlyn (Helen) Wallsmith of Dawson; four sisters-in-law: Inga Johnson and Viola Haugesag of Minneapolis, Myrtle Stafford of Huron, SD, and Dorothy (James) Bakken of Bemidji; several nieces and nephews, cousins, other family, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; infant brother, Clifford, and infant sister, Bernice; and sister, Bernice Wallsmith.
Cliff was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Strand-Saboe VFW Post, and the Oscar Lee American Legion Post, all in Dawson. He was always cheerful and ready to visit with others.
