Clifford Wick

Clifford Wick, of Montevideo, died on Saturday, October 8, 2011 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home at the age of 82. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 at 1:30 P.M. at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo with Rev. Marie Eckberg officiating. Interment will be in Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Clifford Elmer Wick was born on December 18, 1928 in Rosewood Township of Chippewa Co., MN to Anton and Mabel (Lund) Wick. He was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church of rural Watson and attended rural schools. On June 12, 1955 he was united in marriage to Barbara Doring at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo. They lived in Rosewood Township and farmed in both Rosewood and Sparta Townships for many years before moving to Montevideo in 2001. He has been a resident of the Luther haven Nursing Home for the past three months. Cliff was a long-time member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo and served as an usher. He loved to garden and especially raise strawberries, and was instrumental in starting the farmers market in Montevideo. He loved to dance polkas, make jig saw puzzles, farm on a dairy farm and help neighbors in need. He enjoyed nature and wild life and especially enjoyed playing with and loving his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children: Nancy Wick of Montevideo; Kenneth Wick of St. Louis Park, MN; Karen Johnson of St. Cloud, MN and Brenda (and Mike) Gremmels of Montevideo; eight grandchildren: Jeff Johnson; Andy, Tony, Alex and Abby Gremmels; Crystal Ervin, Kay Puetz, and Spencer Wick; two sisters: Juliana Belseth of Milan, MN and Alice Laechelt of Clarkfield, MN; as well as by a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Cindy DeLong; a brother, Edward Wick and by a sister, Solveig Belseth.
