Clifford "Shorty" Saue, 86, of Montevideo, died August 11, 1996 at Luther Haven Nursing Home in Montevideo.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, at 1:30 P.M. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Rev. Warren Broughton will officiate and interment will be at Terrace Lawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be held Tuesday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M.
Clifford Palmer Saue was born December 1, 1909 in Chippewa County, MN, the son of Claus and Ida (Kolstad) Saue. He was baptized and confirmed at Jevnaker Lutheran Church of rural Montevideo, and attended country school in Chippewa County. Clifford was married to Avanell Anderson December 1, 1934 at Watertown, SD. He was employed by Herb Mullins Trucking and Ed Eid's Transfer of Montevideo. Clifford also worked for the City of Montevideo Street Department. Avanell died September 17, 1982 and Clifford moved to Luther Haven in the fall of 1995.
He is survived by five daughters: Shirley Sundlee and her husband Merrill of Montevideo, MN, Carol Waters and her husband George of Montevideo, MN, Sharon Jenson of Winona, MN, Janice Boike and her husband Douglas of Clara City, MN, and Karen Voss and her husband Gary of Marshall, MN; two sons: Richard Saue and his wife Gloria of Montevideo, MN and Dale Saue of Montevideo, MN; 14 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his parents; his wife, Avanell; one daughter, Gail in infancy; one grandson, Larry Sundlee; and two sisters: Myrtle Gilsrud and Clarice Manthis.
