Colette Marie (Macy) Berglund was born to Kenneth and Eleanor (Schliep) Macy on April 17, 1951 in Ortonville, MN. She was baptized on May 27, 1951 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Nassau, MN and confirmed on May 16, 1965 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Madison, MN. She graduated from Madison High School in 1969, and then went on to graduate from St. Cloud University. Colette married Richard (Dick) Berglund on December 31, 1977, in Watertown, SD. They began their lives together on the farm, rural Dawson. She cooked hearty meals and delivered them to the men, along with helping on the farm, wherever needed. She was always offering a helping hand, with a smile on her face.
The Lord blessed them with 4 children. Dick and Colette loved to attend all of their children’s activities. Colette has always had a strong faith in our loving Lord & Savior, and enjoyed volunteering at the church. She was known for her excellent baking, and many requested her famous chocolate chip cookies and carrot bars. Colette also enjoyed gardening, biking, and burying her nose in a good book, but her greatest joy was spending time with her children and grandchildren. After retirement from Minnwest Bank, Dawson, MN, she was able to devote her time to her family and friends.
Colette was a caring, compassionate, and dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was the joy of her life and she was the joy of theirs. Colette radiated love, and everyone around her felt it. Her beautiful smile warmed our hearts. She was courageous, fighting her brave battle until the end, putting her unwavering faith in our Heavenly Father. We were blessed to have this strong, beautiful woman in our lives, and her memory will remain in our hearts forever.
Colette is survived by her husband, Dick; children: Ross (Kristine) Berglund of Webster City, IA, Cammi (Luke) Jager of Omaha, NE, Ken (Jess) Berglund of Eden Prairie, MN, and Rachel (Adam) Hakanson of Carver, MN; five grandchildren: Lucy and Samuel Jager, Adalyn and Evan Hakanson, and Lauren Berglund; a twin sister, Colleen (Dave) Falness of Dawson; a brother, Doug (Jovita) Macy of San Antonio, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Colette was preceded in death by her parents: Kenneth and Eleanor Macy.
Blessed be her memory.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Colette's honor to Hope Network or Rice Hospice.
