Colleen Beverly Lien died on Sunday morning, March 28, 2010, at her home surrounded by her family, under the care of Rice Hospice at the age of 68. Memorial service was at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, March 31, at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter and Pastor Lindsay Stolen officiating. Interment will be in Dawson Cemetery. Visitation was from 5-7 PM Tuesday with a closing prayer service at 7 PM at the Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson. Colleen Beverly Maxwell was born on September 16, 1941, to Clara Maxwell and Henry Erlandson at the Dawson Hospital. She was baptized on April 5, 1942, at her family home. In October of 1949, her mother married Fingal Carlson and to this union, her brother, Curtis and her sister, JoAnn were born. Colleen attended District #65 through 2nd grade, Dawson school through 4th grade, District #25 through 8th grade and graduated from Dawson High School in 1959. She worked in Minneapolis at Investors Diversified Services, Inc. In 1962, she moved to Dawson to care for her grandmother, Agnes Maxwell. She married Harry Lien in 1963, at the Mission Covenant Church in rural Dawson. Through this union, they had seven children. She stayed home with her children until 1982, when she went to work at the Johnson Memorial Home for 10 years. She especially enjoyed her visits with the Thursday group: Corrine Weber, Sharla and Amber Kruger and Missy, Trevor and Tyler Hermanson; the Dumpling gang: Ron and Karen Kupfer, Kurt and Jenell Dahl, and Vern Lund; her monthly coffee group: Mary Carlson, Pam Anderson and Pat Luebke. Over the past two years, she has been very involved in hospice and valued her friendship with the hospice girls, especially, Deb, Peggy, Angela, Donna Jo and Janice; and her home health aide, Pam. She is survived by her husband, Harry Lien of Dawson; three sons: Doug, David (Krystal) and Danny (Dana), all of Dawson; four daughters: Shannon Lien and friend, Jeff Blank of Dawson, and Barb (Thomas) Williams, Erin (Glen) Kuehl and Connie (Joseph) Karanja, all of Marshall; 12 grandchildren, the 13th due in May; sister, JoAnn Carlson and special friend, Marcelino Alvarado of Dawson and brother, Curtis (Kristi) Carlson of Hutchinson; nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Preceding her in death were her grandparents, James and Agnes Maxwell; parents: Henry Erlandson and Clara and Fingal Carlson; in-laws, Obert and Gudren Lien; stillborn daughter, Kelly Jane on April 2, 1978; and sister-in-law, Selma Schlieman.
