A memorial service was at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 4, at the First Presbyterian Church with Pastor Herbert Rotunda officiating; organist, Florence Gebur accompanied the congregation in singing of "Borning Cry" and "This Is My Father''s World"and "Day Is Done" and Doug and Sharilyn Bates singing "Here I Am Lord" and "Amazing Grace". Interment will be in the Dawson Cemetery. Connie Kathleen Crosby was born June 30, 1945, in Dawson, the daughter of Milford and Dorothy (Hull) Crosby. She attended college at Moorhead and St. Cloud before raising her three children. She worked in various business and retail positions before working as a counselor and advocate of women in domestic abuse situations and substance abuse rehabilitation. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from the University of Wyoming in 1995, where she graduated with honors. Connie had an adventurous spirit which led her to living and trying different social work positions in Wyoming, Texas, and New Mexico. She returned to Dawson to care for her mother and purchased the Picket Fence Motel in the late 1990's. After her retirement, she went to warmer weather in Mesa. She was an avid reader, especially enjoying a good mystery. Gardening was a passion that gave her joy. By earning her Master Gardener certification, she was able to grow beautiful gardens and flowers. Her pets always were a source of love and fun. She will be remembered for her intelligence, playful sense of humor, beautiful smile and bright twinkle in her eyes. Connie died Sunday, April 26, 2009, at Banner Baywood Heart Hospital in Mesa, at the age of 63. She is survived by her three children: Katie (and Satit) Seneesirikul of Bangkok, Thailand, Marlo (and Joe) McGaver of Duluth, MN, and Christopher (and Erin) Crosby of Clarkfield; five grandchildren: Nathaniel, Eric, Lucien, Laiken and Kaidence; and one sister, Peggy Crosby and husband, David Pederson of Dawson. Preceding her in death were her parents: Milford on January 31, 1996, and Dorothy on October 24, 1997.
