Coyla (Canton) Andrews

Coyla Andrews, of Milan, MN, died on Monday, January 19, 1998 at the Luther Haven Nursing Home in Milan at the age of 94.

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 22, 1998 at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Wayne Anderson officiating.  Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo.  Arrangements are with the Strand Funeral Services of Milan, MN.

Coyla (Canton) Andrews was born on April 4, 1903 in Watson, MN to Edward and Clara (Schroger) Canton.  She attended elementary school in Watson and graduated from Montevideo High School.  She attended Nedelton Business School in Sioux Falls, SD, Northwestern School of Nursing in Minneapolis and did graduate work at New York Orthopedic Hospital in New York City.  She was united in marriage to Irvin Andrews in September of 1942 and they lived in the Watson and Milan areas from 1948 - 1990.  Coyla was active in church and community activities.  She maintained a career in nursing until 1973, served on the Chippewa Co. Hospital Board for 8 years and served on the Board of Directors of Brookside Manor for 21 years.  She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church and served as President of the Congregation for 2 years.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Irvin in 1990.
