Coyla Moe

Coyla Moe, formerly of Milan, died on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Appleton Hospital at the age of 88. Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 6, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. at Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan with Rev. Tom Opoien officiating. Burial will be in the Watson Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday afternoon and evening with the family present from 5 - 7 PM and with a prayer service at 6:30 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo. Coyla Pauline (Kalmoe) Moe was born on September 25, 1920 in Chippewa County, MN to George and Elma (Anderson) Kalmoe. She was baptized and confirmed at Watson Lutheran Church. She attended rural school until age 13, when failing health forced her to be homebound. In 1942 she went through several surgeries to get well and was then employed at the Montevideo Hospital for several years as a nurse's aid. On June 29, 1947, she was united in marriage to Arthur Moe at the Zion Lutheran Church of Appleton, MN. Following their marriage, Art farmed and did carpentry work in the Milan area. In 1966 they moved into Milan and several years ago she moved to Appleton. She was a member of Kviteseid Lutheran Church in Milan, where she taught Sunday School, organized the "Cherub Choir" and was active in its women's organizations. She had a variety of jobs in the area, including both Sears and Dr. Dennison's office in Madison. She especially enjoyed home nursing and home care, working with Countryside Nursing and Home Care Programs through the Montevideo and Appleton Hospitals. She enjoyed music, quilting, baking and spending time with family and friends. She is survived one son, David (and Mary) Moe of Milan; two grandsons: Dan (and Sara) Moe and Marty (and Melissa) Moe, both of Montevideo; seven great-grandchildren: Lyndsey, Brennan and Brady Moe and Mitchell, Marcus, Merrick and McKeon Moe; a sister, Gudrun Wallace of Montevideo; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Arthur in 1996; and by two brothers: Morris and Leonard Kalmoe.
