Curtis Hoff, of Sacred Heart, died Friday, January 4, 2019 at RenVilla Health Center in Renville at the age of 66.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home of Granite Falls with Pastor Keith Mercer officiating.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 8th from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home of Granite Falls and for one hour before the service on Wednesday.
Curtis James Hoff was born in Granite Falls, MN on August 28, 1952 to Clarence and Hazel (Jevne) Hoff. He was baptized and confirmed at First Methodist Church in Renville, MN. Curt attended school in Renville and graduated in 1970. He then attended Granite Falls Vo-Tech. He was united in marriage to Carole Petersen on October 4, 1975 at First Lutheran Church in Renville. They made their home in the Sacred Heart area and raised two children, Jason and Meredith. Curt farmed and also worked at Stai's Radiator Shop in Sacred Heart.
Curt was a member of the Sacred Heart Volunteer Fire Department where he served for over 30 years, and also acted as Chief. He was a member of the Sacred Heart Jaycees and served on the Sacred Heart City Council. Over the years, Curt was known around the area affectionately as “Big Jake,” “Tiny,” “Curly” and “Big Red.” His grandchildren called him “Boppa” and “Papa Tractor.” He enjoyed attending races in Montevideo on Friday nights and watching NASCAR. Curt and Carole also enjoyed travel and in 2014 they were able to take Curt’s dream vacation to Alaska. Family will always remember Curt’s fantastic smile, his love of his grandchildren and the ability to make his grandchildren laugh.
Curt is survived by his wife of 43 years, Carole; children, Jason (Molly) Hoff, Granite Falls, MN, Meredith (Matt) Lippert, Renville, MN; grandchildren: Logan Hoff, Riley Hoff, Taylor Lippert, Madison Lippert; brothers: Clayton (Linda) Hoff, Pella, IA, Christy (Julie) Hoff, Renville, MN; sister: Connie Eischens (special friend, Scott Rowberg), Renville, MN and father-in-law, Gordon Petersen, Arco, MN, as well as extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter: Alexis Lippert and mother-in-law Delores Petersen.
The Hoff family would like to extend their grateful appreciation to all of the nurses, doctors and caregivers at the dialysis clinic in Olivia, Olivia Healthcare Center, Granite Falls Health, St Cloud Hospital and Hospice care at RenVilla for the wonderful care given to Curtis and our family.
