Curtis Nielsen, of Dawson,  died Sunday, October 19, 2014 at the Golden Living Center in Olivia, MN at the age of 92.

Funeral Service will be held at Thursday, October 23, 2014 at 1:30 PM at the Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating.  Interment will be at the Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Dawson.  Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church.

Curtis Chrisitan Nielsen was born April 11, 1922 at Dawson, MN the son of Christian and Clara (Lundstrom) Nielsen.  He served in the US Army during WWII.  He was united in marriage with Ione Schoneboom April 11, 1946 at Dawson, MN.  He drove truck for Martin Twite until 1952 when he started working for Armour as a hog buyer.  He worked there for over 35 years.  He lived at home until he was admitted to the Golden Living Center Dementia Unit in Olivia earlier this summer.  He was the secretary for the Dawson Fire Department.  Curt enjoyed bowling, golfing and playing cards with the guys at the garage.  He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion.

He is survived by his wife, Ione “Jean” Nielsen; two children: David (Roxene) Nielsen of Champlin, MN and Linda (Mike) Magnuson of Bloomington, MN; six grandchildren: Britt (Aruna), Jodi, Dan (Heather) Becky, Lisa (Phil), and Brian; seven great-grandchildren: Annika, Karmela, Senali, Maisie, Zach, Stephanie, Ava, Ellena, and Masamichi; and a brother, Russell (Elzora) Nielsen of Fort Collins, CO.

Preceding him in death were his parents; and two sisters: Mary Jane Gustafson and Lorraine Erickson.
