Curtis Peterson, of Watson, died Monday, July 9, 2018 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital at the age of 82.
Funeral services will be on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Watson Lutheran Church. Vicar Linda Estling will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery.
Visitation will be held Friday from 5-7:00 PM at the Anderson - TeBeest Funeral Home in Montevideo and at the church for one hour before the funeral.
Curtis Elvin Peterson was born on August 4, 1935 in Lac qui Parle County to Clifford and Ellen (Jacobson) Peterson. He was baptized and confirmed at Lac qui Parle Lutheran Church. He attended Milan Public School. Curtis proudly served in the United States Army as a dog handler with a special K-9 unit during the Korean War. He married Avis Ludvigson at Lac qui Parle Lutheran on January 12th 1957. They made their home in Lac qui Parle Village, then Clarkfield and finally to Watson. They had four children together.
Curtis worked Pat Olson Trucking, Watson, MN and then for Mooney’s Incorporated and following retirement he drove truck in the fall for Kleven Farms. He served on the Watson City Council and was a member of the VFW Post 380 in Montevideo. Curtis was a woodworker and made clocks, pens and wooden cars. He would give the wooden cars out to small children at Trailways and at Walmart. He enjoyed fishing and a shot of brandy at night. He cherished the time spent with family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Curtis is survived by his daughters: Julie (Keith) Dalen, Milan, and Jana (Dave) Joslin, Watson; grandchildren: Kyle Dalen, Milan, Ashlie (James) Clobes, Gibbon, Greta (Ross) Swenson, Clara City, Dr. Jeremy (Dr. Emily) Joslin, Manlius, NY, Amber (J.Eric) Sepulvado, Windermere, FL, and Jared Joslin, Watson; great-grandchildren Ryan and Layna Dalen, Tristan, Preston, Jacob and Isabella Clobes, Reilly and Piper Swenson, Eleanor, Ruby, Julianna, and Michael Joslin, and Xander and Caden Sepulvado; brothers: Elvin (Marlene) Peterson, Granite Falls and Orton (Betty) Peterson, Hesperic, CA; sister: Jeanette (Wayne) Anderson, Granite Falls; and Curtis’ dog “Molly” as well as extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Avis in 2015; a daughter, Becky in infancy in 1957; son, Jerry in 1992; his parents: Cliff and Ellen; brothers: Philip and Lyle; a sister, Rose Delle; in-laws, Harry and Belle McCarthy and great-grandson, Gideon.
