Dale Horst, of Dawson, died Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at his home in Dawson at the age of 65.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service.
Dale Lyle Horst was born October 20, 1949 in Mobridge, SD to Robert H. and Elfrieda (Sandmeier) Horst. He graduated from high school in Eureka, SD. Dale served in the U.S Army from 1968 to 1973 and in the Reserves until the 1980's. He attended school at St. Paul Technical and Vocational Institute for Automotive Technology. On July 6, 1969 Dale was united in marriage to Sonia Ford in rural Faulk County, SD. Dale and Sonia had two boys, Brian and Todd.
Dale and Sonia lived in St. Paul, MN until 1994. They moved to Dawson, MN in 1994 and Dale had been employed driving truck for AMPI and Viessman Trucking. Dale enjoyed watching NASCAR, reading and spending time with his grandchildren.
Dale is survived by his wife, Sonia; two sons: Todd (Samantha) of Dawson and Brian of Dawson; five grandchildren: Robert, Kyle, Derek, Vidalia, Joshua; one sister, Delores (Jim) Brown of Maynard, MN and two brothers, Ronald Horst of Mountainburg, AR and LeRoy (Judy) Horst of Carollton, TX.
Preceding him in death are his parents; Robert and Elfrieda and 2 brothers in infancy.
