Dale Reuben Peterson was born in Tyro Township on September 20, 1927 to Reuben and Ella (Rudell) Peterson.  He was baptized at his parents home on October 9, 1927.  He was confirmed at First English Church in Clarkfield on May 31, 1942.  Dale attended school in Clarkfield and graduated from Clarkfield High School in 1946.  He married Viola Anderson on April 4, 1951 at her parent’s home in Marshall, MN.  Dale served in the United States Army from 1951 to 1953 where he spent 15 months in Japan and Korea.  After serving his country, Dale and Viola lived in Dawson for a period of time and then moved to Montevideo in 1955.  They had two children: Thomas and Debra.  Dale worked in various positions at Minnesota Valley Light and Power (REC) before retiring.

Dale was an active member of Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Montevideo serving as an usher and deacon, an officer of the Men’s club, and helped for funerals. In later years Dale would deliver church bulletins to those in Montevideo that could not get to church at Our Saviors and loved visiting with people. He was a lifetime member of the VFW.  Dale enjoyed playing cards, walking, fishing, growing flowers, feeding the birds and camping.  He also cherished time spent in the winter in Mesa, AZ and summers at the cabin.  Most of all he looked forward to spending time with family and friends.

Dale is survived by his daughter: Deb Gerstner, Maple Plain, MN; two granddaughters: Kari and Rachelle Gerstner; sister Lorinne Mikelson, Eden Prairie, MN; special friend, Ramona Worsech and other extended family.
