Daniel B. Eickemeyer, of Huntley, IL, passed away at his home unexpectedly on Thursday, March 3, 2016.
Memorial services will be held Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Grace Lutheran Cemetery in Dawson, MN at 12:00 PM.
Daniel B. Eickemeyer was born December 9, 1927 in Wausau, Wisconsin, the son of Carl and Ella (Koschmann) Eickemeyer. Following his service in the United States Army he graduated from Valparaiso University and went on to obtain his doctorate in chemistry from Purdue University. He was united in marriage to Virginia B. Lund on February 22, 1958 in West Lafayette, Indiana. The couple made their home in Park Forest, Illinois and later Crete. Dan worked for Sinclair Oil Company for many years and developed several patents for additives in the oil industry. He retired in the mid 1980’s and then taught chemistry at various community colleges including McHenry County Community College. The couple moved to Huntley in 2000. Dan loved to sing and was a longtime church choir member, he was a Green Bay Packer fan and enjoyed science, history and politics.
He is survived by his children; Richard J.(Mary) Eickemeyer of Rochester, MN, David W. Eickemeyer of Chicago and Karen B. Eickemeyer of Palatine, two grandchildren; Jonathan and Christopher and his sister, Eunice (Howard) Thompson of Richmond, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia and his sisters, Ruth, Eleanora and Florence and his brothers, Otto, Walter and Karl.
