Darin Sorby

Darin Sorby, of Sartell and formerly of Dawson, died Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the St. Cloud Hospital at the age of 58.

Memorial services will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter officiating.  A private interment will take place at a later date.

Visitation will be at the church for one hour before the service.  Arrangements are with Hanson & Dahl Funeral Home in Dawson.

Darin Paul Sorby was born October 11, 1962 in Montevideo the son of Paul and Shirlene (Benson) Sorby.  They lived in Montevideo for a year before moving to Dawson.  He was baptized at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter, confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson, and graduated from Dawson - Boyd High School in 1981.  He attended 2 years of college and served in the National Guard  before getting married and moving to Lander, WY.  He worked as a radio manager and disc jockey there for several years.  After getting divorced, he returned to Dawson and worked at KDMA radio in Montevideo until he was unable to work because of health reasons.  He met the love of his life, Lisa five years ago and move to Sartell to be closer to the St. Cloud Hospital for medical treatments.

He is survived by his parents: Paul and Shirlene Sorby of Dawson; his fiancé, Lisa Vollbrecht of Sartell and her children: Jack and Julia; and extended family and friends.

Preceding him death were his grandparents: Ed and Agnes Sorby and Alton and Gladys Benson and his brother, Jon Sorby.
