Darrel Mann of Montevideo, died Tuesday, May 24, 2005 at his home in Montevideo at the age of 74.
Funeral service will be held Tuesday, May 31, 2005 at 1:30 PM at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Montevideo. Rev. David Baumgarn will officiate and interment will be at Sunset Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday afternoon and evening at the Anderson Funeral Home in Montevideo with the family present from 5-7:00 PM.
Darrel Rodger Mann was born on December 10, 1930 in Lone Tree Township, Chippewa County, MN to Frank and Alma (Sell) Mann. He grew up in Raymond and attended School at District # 44. He was baptized on March 29, 1931 and confirmed on April 2, 1950. On October 15, 1950 he was united in marriage to Jeanette Veith at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. They moved to Montevideo in 1958. He was the manager of Dean Jones which later became Orscheln’s Farm and Home Supply. After retiring, he worked part-time at DJ’s Champion Auto & Sporting Goods Center. He was a member of St. Pauls Lutheran Church and enjoyed the Montevideo Community Senior Center. He played softball in his younger years for Raymond and in the early 60's he played baseball for the Montevideo Spartans. He also enjoyed bowling, fishing and golfing.
He is survived by his wife, Jeanette; three children: Ricky (Melinda) Mann of Burnsville, MN, Charles (Julie) Mann of Upper Arlington, OH, and Christine (Paul) Rice of Montevideo, MN; five grandchildren: Adam and Travis Mann, Kevin and Dayna Ehrenberg, and Jason Reinert; one great-grandchild: Brooklyn Mann; and one brother, Frank (Eileen) Mann Jr. of Melborne, FL.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters: Joyce Sankey and Jean Krenz; one daughter-in-law, Linda Mann; one son-in-law, David Reinert; and one sister-in-law, Delores Greenwalt.
