Darvin Miller, of Montevideo, died on Monday, March 20, 2000 at the Chippewa County - Montevideo Hospital in Montevideo as the result of an automobile accident at the age of 58.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday, March 23, 2000 at 10:00 AM at Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church of Baxter Twp., rural Montevideo, MN with Rev. Steve Rheingans officiating. Burial was in the Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Montevideo.
Darvin Dee Miller was born on September 4, 1941 in Redfield, SD to Manley “Bud” and Lillian Miller. He grew up in the Miller, SD area and attended Miller Public Schools. He entered the US Army in 1958 and served for 4 years, serving a time in Germany. On February 14, 1959 he was united in marriage to Marietta Stotz in Poteau, OK. They lived in Redfield, Huron and Aberdeen, South Dakota and Pipestone and Starbuck, MN before moving to Montevideo in 1978. He worked as a meat cutter for over 30 years and has spent the past 8 years working for Gibson Trucking. He was a member of the American Legion and enjoyed playing cards, camping, fishing, gardening and birdwatching.
He is survived by his wife, Marietta; two daughters: Brenda Stone and her husband Roland of Montevideo and Terry Staab and her husband Robert of Springfield, MO; grandchildren: Dustin and Ariel Stone; Bobby Jo Chin, Michelle Staab, Trevor Miller and Christopher Staab; great-grandchildren: Kierra Miller, Amber Chin, Justin Staab, Christopher Staab and Raelyn Haneca; his father, Manley “Bud” Miller of Redfield, SD; one brother, Darrell Miller of Ridgefield, WA; and his father-in-law, Alfred Stotz of Redfield, SD.
He was preceded in death by his mother; one son, Michael Dean Miller; one brother, Doyle Miller; his mother-in-law, Leona Stotz; and a special aunt and uncle that helped raise him, Allen and Zelda Miller.
