David M. Johnson was born September 7, 1899, in Providence Township, Lac Qui Parle County, the son of Claus and Teckla (Lund) Johnson. He was baptized, confirmed, and a lifetime member of the Providence Valley Lutheran Church.
David stayed on the family farm to farm the land and in 1940, bought a farm near Frederick, SD. He farmed both farms until he moved to Aberdeen, SD, in the middle 60's. He moved back to Dawson in 1981, into the Parkview Apartments. David entered the Johnson Memorial Home on March 31, 1993, and remained there until his death on Thursday, March 5, 1998, at the age of 98 years, 5 months, and 28 days.
He is survived by his two sisters: Hazel Gustafson of Madison and Dorothy Johnson of Dawson; and other family and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers: Harry and Algot Johnson; and sisters: Cora Johnson, Cecelia Emblem, Mabel Olson, and one sister in infancy.
