David Sandven

David Sandven of Dawson died Thursday, April 14, 2011 at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar at the age of 70. Memorial service was held on Monday, April 18, 2011, at 1 PM at Grace Lutheran Church in Dawson with Pastor Kendall Stelter and Pastor Keith Long officiating; a poem about Easter was read and a written personal tribute was read by Pastor Kendall: recorded music of "One Day At A Time" and "I Can Only Imagine" was played and organist, Deb Lewis accompanied the singing of "On Eagle's Wings" and "Amazing Grace." All of his grandchildren were active urn bearers and honorary were Jim Ehlenz and members of AA in Dawson and Montevideo. David Arnt Sandven was born March 29, 1941, in rural Milan, MN, the son of Arnt and Agnes (Eide) Sandven. He was baptized and confirmed at Big Bend Lutheran Church and graduated from Milan High School in 1959. David served in the MN Army National Guard and attended business school in Minneapolis. He was united in marriage with Andrea Nash on April 2, 1966, at Jevnaker Lutheran Church in rural Montevideo. They lived in Minnetonka for a few years before moving to the Dawson area. David started working at the bean plant in Dawson in 1968. He also worked for Viessman's for a few years before he started working as a machinist at Chandler Industries in Montevideo. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, reading, bird watching and feeding critters, playing with his grandkids, and driving and site seeing. He is survived by his wife, Andrea; four children: Stacey (Jonathan) Richardson of Dawson, Sarah Sandven of Dawson, Stephanie (Erwin) Miller of Fargo, and Andrew (Ashley) Sandven of Dawson; five grandchildren: Faith, Hope, Ellie, Ayden, and Erwin; two brothers: Alden (Marilyn) Sandven of Hokah, MN, and Bob Sandven of Benson; three sisters: Janice Penke of Quitman, TX, Betty Ansay of Littleton, CO, and Shirley (Gary) Olson of Victoria, MN; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; and son, Aaron on June 28, 1992.
